Sorry no poem written up this week have been dedicating a lot of time with the artwork this week. I’ve decided that I have to many paintings and need to sell a few, so I’m trying out this website called trademe.co.nz. I’m not sure if it will sell on there, but you have to try things out to find out. The thing with me as I’m not with my usual art group. The Attic artists anymore because my health hasn’t allowed me to attend. We actually go and paint in the attic of an old woolshed and the potters use downstairs. Mainly it’s the length of time there that I couldn’t manage a whole day as yet. So I have accumulated quite a few paintings as I’m not going to the club so the are not being exhibited. So I need to sell some now, otherwise I’m at the point I shouldn’t really paint anymore until I do. Just simply no room. This painting above has received 8 bids so far, and has not meet it’s reserved price as yet, so I’ll be crossing my fingers on this one. This painting is of two green stone Maori necklaces that I own and thought would look nice painted in a creative way. The Necklace on the left is called MANAIA or spiritual Guardian is a bird like figure in Maori mythology. It acts as a provider and protector over the air, waters and land. The necklace painted on the right is called the HEI MATAU ia an ancient Maori symbol, also called the fish hook. It symbolizes abundance and is worn for prosperity and good luck.
I’ve had a bad few weeks my friend Wendy committed suicide, leaving behind two children. Then two friends from spaces were killed by a drunk driver and then 3 days ago an Uncle passed away. So things haven’t been going smoothly at all. Things can only get better I hope.
Have a great week everyone.
